How Did I Became A Meteorologist Obsessed with the Weather? Answered by Our Team
As a young child growing up in western Missouri before the Internet was ubiquitous, I was terrified of severe weather, especially tornadoes, as I mistakenly believed they were conscious and coming to get me. One day, the local tv weatherman talked to my elementary school at an assembly, mentioning that as a kid, he too was scared of storms. The way he overcame his fear? He learned about them, he said. The very next day, I was begging my mom to take me to the public library, where I could check out books on weather. With time and knowledge, my fear turned into fascination and a healthy respect for what nature can produce.
